Max B is siding with Drake when it comes to his rivalry with Kendrick Lamar.
In a clip making the rounds on social media, the Harlem rapper was asked during a conversation with Jason Lee to choose between the two rap heavyweights and didn't hesitate to side with Drake.
"I'm taking Drake, man," Max said. "Yeah, I'm fucking with Drake."
Max explained that his choice isn't solely about what happened during the pair's explosive 2024 rap battle. He's also been listening to Drake's latest material and likes what he's hearing.
"Drake's new shit sounding good. I'm in the clubs with it," he said.
Max singled out "Janice STFU" as one of his favorites, adding, "That 'Teach Me,' baby, that right there. That's my shit."
While Kendrick was widely viewed as the winner of their lyrical showdown, Max suggested Drake's career will ultimately be defined by what he does after the battle rather than the loss itself. He compared the situation to Kobe Bryant overcoming intense public backlash during his NBA career and eventually adding two more championships to his résumé.
"It's the equivalent of Kobe," Max said. "Everybody wanted to boycott him out the NBA and all that. When he went out there, won two titles, you never heard about that shit no more."
For Max, Drake can accomplish something similar by continuing to deliver successful music.
"All he got to do is sit back and make his music," he said.
Drake has already enjoyed a massive 2026 commercially. In May, he released three projects simultaneously and became the first artist to occupy the top three positions on the Billboard 200 during the same week. He also surpassed Michael Jackson for the most No. 1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 among solo male artists.
Kendrick, meanwhile, has continued to reap the rewards of their battle. His Drake diss "Not Like Us" won both Record of the Year and Song of the Year at the 2025 Grammys, becoming the first diss record to capture either award. He later performed the song during his Super Bowl halftime show.
Max's comments arrive as he's enjoying his own post-prison resurgence. Since returning home, the Wave God has received shoutouts from major artists including Jay-Z and Bad Bunny, but he's made it clear that starting conflicts isn't part of his plan.
"I'm on parole. I'm not trying to beef with nobody," Max said. "My job out here is to make good product."
That product is already earning recognition. Max and French Montana's "Ever Since U Left Me" is nominated for Best Collaboration at the 2026 MTV VMAs, where Kendrick is competing in the same category alongside Clipse, Pusha T, and Malice for "Chains and Whips."
