We don't know if "lucky" is the correct word to use when describingJason Pierre-Pauls's Fourth of July fireworks accident that cost him a finger-and-a-half but, according to an interview the Giants defensive end gave to the New York Post's Steve Serby, it could've been three-and-a-half fingers worse. Pierre-Paul describes a scene in which he passed out for a few days, but before he went under he heard doctors discussing a Luke Skywalker-esque solution that would've cost him his career:
After three games Pierre-Paul's still looking for his first sack of 2015. But, odds are, he'd be looking for a whole lot longer (like, forever) had the doctor's original assessment been correct. After all, a hand would appear to be pretty important for a pro athlete. Ask anyone but Jim Abbott.
