LL COOL J is gearing up to add another honor to his career — and it involves his impact on the city of New York.

On November 4, the legendary rapper and actor is set to be recognized as a Living Landmark by the New York Landmarks Conservancy at its annual celebration that will take place at Manhattan's Plaza Hotel.

The distinction celebrates New Yorkers who have made a lasting impact on the city via contributions and community work.

In addition to Uncle L, others who are set to be honored include the Durst family, Peter Marino, Jane Hartley, Peter Gregory, Crystal McCrary McGuire, and Raymond J. McGuire.

LL COOL J's inclusion in the ceremony is well deserved. Since his 1985 debut album Radio, the rapper has consistently put on for New York with songs like "Rock the Bells," "Mama Said Knock You Out," and "Doin’ It" widely considered to be hip-hop classics.

Over his lengthy career, LL has won two Grammy Awards and released 14 albums. He's been recognized as one of the earliest rappers to have crossover commercial success, and in 2017 he became the first rapper to receive the Kennedy Center Honors. The Living Landmark designation follows his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the Musical Excellence category back in 2021.

LL COOL J recently announced a Las Vegas residency, which will see him perform a number of shows at Dolby Live at Park MGM next year.
