The BET Awards 2026 saw no shortage of artists being joined by their children during culture’s biggest night.
Opening the show on Sunday (June 28) was T.I., who performed songs like “Top Back” and “Let ‘Em Know,” the latter where his son, King Harris, 21, was in the driver’s seat of their ride onstage. At the start of the weekend, the self-proclaimed King of the South released his twelfth studio LP, Kill the King, which is presumed to be his final album, although there may have been a change in plans.
Complex has followed T.I. and King’s father-and-son journey extensively, including the rappers being on an episode of GOAT Talk in 2023.
Also performing with their child during the awards ceremony was Foxx, who was on the piano while his daughter, Anelise Bishop, 17, assisted on the guitar to introduce Kehlani’s live rendition of “Folded.”
Jamie Foxx, who also has an oldest daughter, Corinne, 32, and will soon welcome his third child, credited Anelise’s guitar-playing skills as a remedy as he recovered from a brain bleed that caused a hemorrhagic stroke in 2023.
“They said when she was playing, my vitals went down,” Foxx said about Anelise’s guitar-playing on his 2024 Netflix special What Had Happened Was. “The nurses at the nurses station were baffled. Like, ‘Wow what did they give him?’ They rushed into the room and she said, ‘Ssh. I got him’… Do you know what I found out? That God was in that guitar. That’s my spiritual defibrillator.”
Ms. Lauryn Hill, who will receive BET’s inaugural Living Legend Icon Award, will be honored in a musical tribute by her children, Zion Marley, YG Marley and Selah Marley, along with artists Lizzo, Doja Cat, Doechii, Tierra Whack and more.
