Abdul El-Sayed's Promise to 'Smoke' Mike Rogers by 7 Points Resurfaces After He Does Exactly That

"Bet on it," El-Sayed said back in May when making a prediction that ultimately proved to be dead-on.

To quote the newly elected Abdul El-Sayed, “the bad guys lost” on Tuesday (Nov. 3) in Michigan and elsewhere. In El-Sayed’s case specifically, the Senate race win came with a margin of victory that he himself predicted exactly.

Indeed, back in May, El-Sayed said in a post shared to the platform formerly known as Twitter that he would “smoke” Trump-endorsed Republican Mike Rogers come November. His prediction got even more specific, however, as El-Sayed vowed to do so by seven points.

“Gimme three months and his golf buddies in Florida wouldn’t even vote for him,” El-Sayed said at the time. “I’ll smoke him by 7. Bet on it.”

Those who did bet on it are likely having a very fine morning, as the Associated Press, with 97 percent of votes counted as of this writing, has El-Sayed at 52.5 percent, while Rogers is at 45.5. In other words, El-Sayed smoked Rogers by seven points.

In his victory speech, El-Sayed, who will be the first Muslim senator in U.S. history once he takes office, highlighted the “delicious irony” of the fact that current VP JD Vance is “constitutionally obligated” to swear him in.

El-Sayed also tucked in a jab at his “right-wing ops” at large, like so:

“Up until right about now, you might have noticed I always said ‘inshallah,’ or ‘God willing,’ whenever the outcome of this race was mentioned. But today, tonight, we can turn that ‘inshallah’ into a ‘alhamdulillah.’ For the right-wing ops, that just means ‘Praise be to God.’”

El-Sayed assumes office in January.
