Hybrid Thinking brings together the work of six emerging artists from around the world. Dal, Herakut, Kyuro, Roa, Sit, and Vinz each explore concepts of instinct and identity through metamorphoses. All six also incorporate figurative pairing of human and animal elements to reach this theme.
Curators Wooster Collective see their exhibition as indicative of the current zeitgeist. They view these artists as members of disparate cultures coming together to create something entirely new. In short, they are artists who have helped refine and redefine contemporary street art.
On view through February 11, 2012, at Jonathan LeVine, the exhibition is the first curated by Wooster Collective since 2006.

Originally from Belgium, Roa's large-scale black and white animal murals have popped up throughout Europe and the United States. In galleries, he works on objects, successfully mimicking the imaginative placement of his public murals on a smaller scale.

Noir 50

Based in Amsterdam, Sit is known for examining the relationship between mankind and the animal kingdom. His current NOIR series contrast hard animal bone with soft female skin, and other fine textures as well. We've chosen to highlight Noir 50 for its unique place in the series —the only sculpture, and something that magnificently toys with ubiquitous footwear.

Dinner for Two

Vinz works out of Valencia, Spain, the same town he was born in 1979. He paints animal heads on large-scale photographs of human figures. Often, these become urban wheatpaste. In studio practice, Vinz applies paint to collage backgrounds built from paper ephemera.
