Nike is giving its popular Nike Tech collection a major upgrade, expanding the line beyond its signature fleece into a complete wardrobe.
On Friday (October 23), the sportswear giant announced that Nike Tech will return as a year-round collection with six apparel platforms, each featuring different materials and performance features. The collection is scheduled to launch November 5 on Nike's website and at select retailers.
Leading the rollout is Nike Tech SF3, a lightweight waterproof outerwear option designed to protect against heavy rain while maintaining breathability. The jacket incorporates recycled materials, fully sealed seams and a construction that becomes softer with continued wear.
"For Nike Tech SF3, the goal was almost a redefinition of outerwear. Athletes who have worn it say it's unlike anything they've ever experienced before," Greg Nolley, Nike's senior manager for Men's Sportswear Apparel, said in a statement. "The interior speaks to a high level of performance, while the outer shell offers everything you need for torrential downpours. It's an incredibly lightweight protective layer."
The expanded lineup also introduces Boreas, an oversized full-zip hoodie that combines high-pile fleece with water-repellent panels for colder weather. Meanwhile, Nike Tech Fleece returns with its familiar lightweight warmth and smooth construction, now featuring reflective Bemis tape along the chest and seams.
Rounding out the collection are Helios, which incorporates micro-ventilation for warmer conditions; Shori, which focuses on cooling and flexibility; and Woven, which adds more versatile options for different climates.
According to Nike, the collection was developed with athletes in mind, particularly those who need clothing that can transition between commuting, traveling, working and physical activity.
"This new collection goes way beyond fleece. With Nike Tech, we've created a complete wardrobe of dress that's designed to work together, from how a T-shirt layers under a jacket to how different fabrics and textures interact," Nolley explained.
"It is both a head-to-toe proposition and a true inside-out layering system, fueled by Nike innovation in service of the athlete."
Nike has already previewed several pieces from the upcoming release, including the Boreas Therma-FIT full-zip hoodie, priced at $195, and the Shori Knit full-zip Windrunner, priced at $125.
