Chasing down rogue aliens can be a tough business, no matter the year/decade/millennium. But, as Will Smith's Agent J wisely said in the first installment of the wildly successful Men in Black franchise: "I make this look good." In Men in Black 3, Agent J must go back in time to when his partner, Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones) was killed. Once there, not only does he encounter a younger version of Agent K (played impeccably by Josh Brolin), but also a much different style sense than current day MIBs. The Watch
A great watch is definitely an important accessory, particularly when you're leaping back and forth through actual time. The Hamilton Ventura is the perfect model for any MIB, no matter what decade. The Shades
The MIB organization has clearly had a long standing deal with the Ray-Ban company--and why wouldn't they, when Ray-Bans are so effective against the memory-erasing Neuralyzer? (In the real world, the product placement deal did infinitely more wonders for the sunglass company, whose sales skyrocketed after the release of the first film.) But the style of specs that agents wear has definitely changed from the 1960s to today. Agent J's have a much more modern feel than Agent K's, which are reminiscent of the classic wayfarer style worn by 1960s icons like Bob Dylan and Buddy Holly. The Shoes
Oxfords were incredibly popular in the 1960s and are still popular today. However, the versions generally worn by the 1960s non-civil servant were much plainer, with a straight forward design and traditional leather construction. If Agent K had gone into banking instead of fugitive alien policing, he might have opted for the wingtip style, but the more traditional toe cap style was a likelier choice for the MIBs in the 1960s. The Tie
Differences amongst ties that are both black may be tough to see with the naked eye, but any aficionado can tell you that Agent K's narrower design is a much more 1960's-appropriate style than Agent J's wider cravate. Own MIB3 Now On Blu-Ray Combo Pack & DVD!
The Suit
Obviously, the Men in Black uniform has had the same essential elements since the covert organization's inception (black suit, white shirt), but even secretive intergalactic non-government agency uniforms can change to reflect the times. As pictured here, the suit jacket worn by young Agent K (Josh Brolin) features an additional button than that of Agent J (Will Smith), while the buttons themselves are raised higher on the jacket, leaving less of the shirt and tie exposed when buttoned.
