Jaylen Brown knows exactly which Hogwarts house he belongs in — and Daniel Radcliffe eventually agreed with his choice.
During Thursday's (October 29) episode of The Young Man and The Three, the NBA star sat down with the actor, who famously portrayed Harry Potter, and asked him to determine which Hogwarts house best suited his personality.
Radcliffe initially believed Brown belonged in Gryffindor or Ravenclaw, but the basketball star quickly rejected those suggestions. "I'm Slytherin, bro," Brown declared.
The response caught Radcliffe off guard, prompting him to question why so many fans identify with the Hogwarts house traditionally associated with villains in the Harry Potter franchise.
"Seriously, I don't get this. Why does everybody want to be Slytherin?" Radcliffe asked.
Brown explained that he doesn't believe Slytherin deserves its negative reputation, arguing that the house's association with darkness doesn't necessarily make its members evil. "Everybody in Slytherin is not evil," Brown said.
He continued by explaining how his perspective on darkness has shaped his outlook on life. "A lot of people associate darkness with negativity," Brown said. "But darkness is essential. Like you got to plant a seed deep in the soil for it to grow."
He added: "When the sun goes down is when you see the stars. Darkness is essential to growth, essential to life. It's not necessarily bad."
Radcliffe acknowledged Brown's argument before officially giving him the house assignment he wanted. "Okay, so cool. Sorry, bro. You're Slytherin," Radcliffe said. "Sorry. Not what I thought anyone wanted, but cool."
The conversation didn't end there, as Brown also took a shot at sorting several NBA stars into Hogwarts houses.
He placed LeBron James and Tyrese Maxey in Gryffindor, while suggesting VJ Edgecombe belonged in Ravenclaw because of his intelligence and studious personality. Brown also had some interesting picks for Hufflepuff, including former Boston Celtics teammates Jayson Tatum and Derrick White.
"I think JT might be a Hufflepuff," Brown said. "Derrick White's Hufflepuff for sure, too."
As for his former Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla, Brown didn't hesitate. "Slytherin for sure," he said.
Radcliffe jokingly acknowledged that Brown's interpretation of Slytherin meant the assignment was actually a compliment.
The exchange highlighted Brown's longtime love for the Harry Potter franchise. During Boston's 2024 NBA championship run, he revealed that he watched all eight films during a 10-day break between playoff rounds.
"A lot of our guys probably spend time with their family and stuff like that, but I don't have a family. I'm single. So I've been binge-watching Harry Potter," Brown said at the time.
