Harry Kane and Alexia Putellas have been named the best soccer players in 2026.
This year’s Ballon d’Or ceremony took place tonight from the London Palladium Theatre in London, UK. The category that had people talking was who will win the men’s award in a stacked list of nominees which includes Lamine Yamal, Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi, Ousmane Dembélé, Rodri, and more.
In the end, the award was given to Kane, becoming the first Bayern Munich player to win it in over four decades and the fifth English player ever. It is a well deserved honor for the England captain, who scored 36 goals in the Bundesliga and knocked in another 14 goals in the Champions League.
Kane also single-handedly avoided an early elimination for England in the Round of 32 of the World Cup against DR Congo when he scored two goals in a 2-1 victory.
The women’s side saw the likes of Alexia Putellas, Mariona Caldentey, and Klara Bühl competing.
Putellas snagged her third Ballon d’Or award, adding to her already impressive resume.
Other awards handed out for Men’s and Women’s Young Talent of the Year, Men’s and Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year, Men’s and Women’s Coach of the Year, and more.
