Blake Griffin hasn’t forgotten the awkwardness of changing among teammates in the locker room during his time as a professional basketball player.
The retired NBA player was a guest on the Tuesday (June 30) episode of podcast Friends Keep Secrets, where he was asked whether he’d encountered naked teammates during his 13-season career. The 37-year-old, who played for the Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Nets, Detroit Pistons and Los Angeles Clippers, announced his retirement in 2024.
“I mean, it's unavoidable. You're in the locker room. You have to change,” Griffin said around the 49-minute mark of the video below.
When co-host Lil Dicky asked if any teammates were “scared” about being seen in the nude, Griffin replied, “There's definitely like guys who are a little less cavalier about it.”
The former athlete added that it’s a common courtesy to shower post-game instead of waiting to return home. “If you don't shower after practice or after games, like a rookie, you're like, ‘Hey, that’s one [strike].’ ‘Cause it's just gross and some guys, you don't know if they're going home and showering,” Griffin explained.
Griffin denied that he’d seen coaches pull players aside to notify them of body odor, although he was “sure it happened.” The athlete has opened up in past interviews about inconvenient post-game encounters, like when former Clippers owner Donald Sterling allegedly brought his friends into the team locker room while Griffin was wearing a bath towel. Griffin, who detailed the alleged experience on a 2025 episode of The Adam Friedland Show, also claimed that Sterling encouraged his friends to touch the player’s abdomen at a parties after he was drafted in 2009.
