The New York Knicks will celebrate their first NBA championship win in 53 years ahead of their first game of the 2026-27 season on Tuesday (Oct. 20), and fans will be able to tune in from home.
Before the Knicks play their first game of the season on Tuesday against the Philadelphia 76ers, they will celebrate their electrifying 2025-26 season victory with a Championship Ring Ceremony at Madison Square Garden. On NBC and Peacock at 6:30 p.m. ET, the Knicks will host their long-awaited championship ceremony.
Just thirty minutes later, they will face off against Philly, who now boast LeBron James as part of the team.
The Knicks hold the honor of playing the second game of the season, following the Boston Celtics and Detroit Pistons’ game at 3:00 p.m. ET. Following the Knicks and the 76ers, Oklahoma City Thunder will play against the San Antonio Spurs at 9:30 p.m. ET.
The NBA will be shown on NBC and Peacock with 100 regular-season games this season on its three marquee nights: Peacock NBA Monday starting on Oct. 26, Coast 2 Coast Tuesday beginning on Oct. 27, and Sunday Night Basketball from Jan. 24, 2027.
The Championship Ring Ceremony on Tuesday is a big moment for the Knicks, who last won a championship in 1973. It’s only their third championship win overall. After returning to playoff contention following the additions of Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, OG Anunoby, MIkal Bridges, and Karl-Anthony Towns, they’ve proven themselves to be one of the most exciting teams in the league.
It remains to be seen if they’ll be able to defend their championship title this season, especially with all the shake-ups that came during the off-season.
