The 2026-27 NBA season officially tips off today, following a dramatic postseason that had the New York Knicks end their 53-year championship drought. Leading the charge for the Knicks was Jalen Brunson, who has famously told Nike he would wear Kobes for the rest of his career over having his own signature shoe. But on the opposite side of the spectrum, there are plenty of basketball signature models out in the market right now.

This includes longstanding lines like LeBron’s Nike LeBron 24 and Kevin Durant’s KD 19. There are also a few newcomers with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s Converse Shai 001 and Tyrese Mexey’s New Balance Maxey V1. Brands like Puma and Anta have also made their way into the space, thanks to LaMelo Ball, Tyrese Haliburton, and Kyrie Irving.

Ahead of tipoff today, we’re taking a look at the best signature basketball models currently in the NBA. Here are our picks for the best signature basketball shoes of 2026.

Adidas Don Issue 8

Release Date: July 2026
Price: $120

Don’t sleep on Donovan Mitchell’s D.O.N. Issue #8. The 7 was a shoe I kept coming back to because the lockdown was insane, but I always felt like the zipper wasn’t really needed. The 8 gets rid of it, and I feel like Adidas has found an approach that works across its basketball lineup. Keep refining what players already love and let the smaller adjustments make a big impact. The colorways look solid on foot, and those gradient patterns just sit perfectly on the silhouette. I haven’t seen it on court as much as some of the other shoes on this list, but performance-wise, I think it’s one of Adidas’ best. It might fly under the radar for most people, but it definitely deserves a spot on this list of the best signature basketball sneakers of 2026. I just hope we get a D.O.N. collab or two down the line to bring more to the line, especially considering Mitchell just signed a fresh contract extension with Adidas. —Douglas Jase

Puma Hali 2

Release Date: TBD
Price: TBD

The debut of the Puma Hali 2 had a lot to live up to thanks to the lofty expectations set by the Hali 1’s introduction. On the same night that the Hali 1 was introduced, Tyrese Haliburton hit the game-winning shot in Game 1 of the 2025 NBA Finals, wearing that exact sneaker. A better script couldn’t have been written if they tried, so we can forgive the comparatively low-key intro to the 2, which featured Haliburton wearing the sneaker at the Pacers’ media day, followed by a closer look by the shoes designer, Salehe Bembury. As for the shoe itself, it’s largely similar to the original from an aesthetic and technical perspective, but at least the debut colorway is bold. If Haliburton is able to return to his pre-injury level of play, we could be talking a lot more about these as the season goes on. —Zac Dubasik

Puma MB.06

Release Date: July 31, 2026
Price: $130

Before the arrival of Tyrese Haliburton and his signature line, LaMelo Ball helped keep Puma Basketball relevant with his MB sneaker line. It’s one of the most popular lines among the young hoopers, so that has to count for something. The latest MB.06 is not a bad looking sneaker either, but it doesn’t top a majority of designs on this list. —Victor Deng

Nike Freak 8

Release Date: August 1, 2026
Price: $115

Giannis Antetokounmpo debuted his Nike Freak 8 signature sneaker late last season upon his brief return from a calf injury. It was significant because it was one of his final games with the Bucks, thanks to being shut down for the season just a few games later. That means that Bucks fans may not have particularly fond memories of the sneaker and his final days in Milwaukee, but from our perspective, it’s not a bad model. Similar to the Freak 7, the Freak 8 loses the Zoom Air found on earlier models in favor of full-length foam—this time ReactX. It also retains some of the flowing lines of its predecessor. There’s no mistaking the two shoes for each other, but it’s a rather evolutionary design rather than something entirely new and exciting. LeBron’s sneaker line was reinvigorated when he went to Miami; could the same thing happen for Giannis? —Zac Dubasik

Nike KD 19

Release Date: June 13, 2026
Price: $155

Not many athletes can say they have 19 signature sneakers like Kevin Durant can. Just from the overall design, the KD 19 is one of the better looking models in the KD line. Visually, the “dagger” TPU detail on the sides of the upper is interesting, and the outsole features a new traction pattern referencing KD’s 35 and 7 jersey numbers. The KD 19 has also had a solid rollout namely with Drake’s involvement and a number of notable colorways. —Victor Deng

Anta Kai 3

Release Date: January 17, 2026
Price: $135

The Anta Kai 3 launched at the top of the year, and I think what hurt it a bit was not seeing Kyrie wear it in NBA games. However, it did get some motion after Steph Curry pulled out a pair during his sneaker free agency run. Kyrie and Anta are putting a lot of effort towards each other, and trying new things consistently. This pair in particular looks like it’s always in motion, and it’s a very responsive shoe on court. The upper makes a great canvas for fun colorways and storytelling. My personal favorites were the denim-look “Patchwork” collaboration with Sneaker Politics and the “Kai Feng,” which draws from Chinese kite culture. Both give you something to appreciate beyond the colors. All in all, in a market with so much parity, Anta and Kai are pushing boundaries as more brands find their voice, and the fact that it's on this list is a reminder of where we’re at. —Douglas Jase

Nike A’Two

Release Date: May 2, 2026
Price: $145

It’s hard to follow up a great debut shoe, especially when you earn so many accolades in the same season, but the Nike A’Two is still a good sequel. My initial thought was that it felt like a modernized version of some late ’90s and early 2000s Nike basketball sneakers, like the Foamposite. That molded upper makes it hard to shake the comparison. The sneaker contains a cushioning set up you can’t go wrong with, featuring a full-length Cushlon 3.0 foam midsole with a bottom-loaded, high-surface-area Air Zoom unit in the forefoot. Aesthetically I want to see more like the upcoming Halloween pair. We actually talked about how the shoe was almost unrecognizable, but in a cool way. The Nike A’Two holds up well even after the success of the A’One, and the shoe is still involved in an MVP-winning season. —Douglas Jase

Nike LeBron 24

Release Date: Nov. 17, 2026
Price: $210

Had we never seen the Nike LeBron 23, the Nike LeBron 24 would probably rank much higher. But the crown-based containment unit of the 23 was such a distinctive look, it’s hard to not associate the similar lines of the 24’s upper with its predecessor. In fairness, the construction is totally different; the 24 introduced a new upper technology created for LeBron known as KingKnit. Impressively, the strong-yet-breathable material allows the 24 to be the lightest game shoe in the history of LeBron’s signature series. We’ve only seen a handful of colorways so far, so the right new iterations, and James continuing to set new records on a nightly basis, could have us rethinking its slot as the 2026-27 NBA season progresses. —Zac Dubasik

Converse/Nike Shai 001

Release Date: September 4, 2025
Price: $130

Is the Converse Shai 001 too low, is it too high, or is it just right? This was one of the more highly debated conversations we had when putting this thing together. Last year we had the Converse Shai 001 in our top 4 on this list, and it even made our year-end Sneaker of the Year list. So how did it drop? So far, since Shai moved to Nike, we’ve only seen the same Shai 001 with nothing more than a Swoosh added to it. We haven’t really seen any new colorways, new innovation, or a hint at something truly new. Sure these things take time, but until the reigning MVP and Nike start rolling the 002 (or whatever they’re going to call it) out the 001 finds itself right in the middle of the pack. —Ben Felderstein

New Balance Maxey V1

Release Date: October 2, 2026
Price: $130

We’re years removed from Kawhi’s “Board Man Gets Paid” New Balance ads, and it was time for a new face. Tyrese Maxey was something unexpected. New Balance basketball has found its identity within the brand by going back to numbered models and keeping the language consistent. The Maxey v1 fits in that catalog well. I actually talked to Tyrese, and that was his goal going into it. The sneaker is based on the 9060, and built on being fast. It features a FuelCell midsole along with Quixrail technology, a reinforced sidewall, and a TPU shank. To me, it’s like an alternate version of the New Balance P350, specifically made for him. It’s designed with the intention of being worn off the court too, and that holds true so far because he actually wore it with a suit to the Spider-man Brand New Day premiere. The shoe made its debut during the playoffs, and between Tyrese performing well on the court with a new lineup, and solid colorways to come, this looks great for New Balance and what’s next. —Douglas Jase

Adidas Harden Vol. 10

Release Date: December 15, 2025
Price: $160

The Adidas Harden Vol. 10 continues the momentum that James Harden’s line has been building off his last few signature models, and is arguably the best in its decade-long history. Harden’s line got off to a relatively slow start, and didn’t initially hit quite as hard as was expected after signing a reported $200 million deal in 2015. But as Harden has entered the later stages of his career, despite his on-court numbers being down from his peak, the sneakers are better than ever. The 10 felt like a natural evolution of the past few models, taking on a fully molded upper with an inner bootie construction. The futuristic-yet-familiar look worked in both in-line and collaborative colorways. The sleek design of the upper could be totally transformed, like the ambitious Willy Chavarria x The Compton Cowboys version that reworked the molding. The Harden 11 is expected to land soon, and while the 10 isn’t exactly fresh, the design held up well over the past season and is still a strong performer on our list of the best current signature basketball sneakers. —Zac Dubasik

Nike Sabrina 4

Release Date: July 17, 2026
Price: $135

The Nike Sabrina 4 picks up right where her prior three sneakers left off, landing somewhere in the ballpark of a team Kobe model both aesthetically and from a pricing perspective. And that’s a compliment. For four straight models, Sabrina Ionescu’s signature line has offered a low-cut on-court option with tried and true tech, at a relatively affordable price point. This year’s model updates the line with a slightly more aggressive look and a TPU Flyplate added to the performance package. Ionescu and Nike have a good thing going, as evidenced by the ubiquity of the line at courts at all levels of play, and the Sabrina 4 keeps that trend rolling. —Zac Dubasik

Adidas Anthony Edwards 3

Release Date: September 18, 2026
Price: $130

I wasn’t sold on the Adidas Anthony Edwards 3 immediately. The rugged TPU upper and arrowlike detailing took some getting used to, but the more I see it, the more it makes sense. Seeing some early looks at colorways like “Doctor Doom” helps show what this design can do. As far as performance goes, Adidas continues to build on his design and fine-tune the silhouette. Overall, it’s pretty consistent. By a third signature shoe, you start wondering how a brand will keep your attention, which explains why Adidas is also expanding Ant’s world through MINNATLANTASOTA—giving the commercials that helped define the AE 1 a longer life. In a signature market where shoes increasingly blend together, this line still has a personality: fun, confrontational, and willing to talk trash. The AE3 is definitely worthy of making the podium on our list, and now it's time for Ant to back up the talk this season. —Douglas Jase

2

Nike Ja 4

Release Date: August 13, 2026
Price: $130

The Nike Ja 3 is a tough act to follow given that it’s still one of the best signature basketball shoes out now, but the Ja 4 is a worthy sequel. Off the bat, the design is very unique—namely with the reverse Swoosh on the side paired with a TPU frame at the midfoot that spells out “JA.” At the time of writing, we’ve only seen a handful of colorways, and already it’s shaping up to be one of the best signature models in the market. There’s also a distinct looking high-top version on the way, which will likely turn some heads when Morant wears them on-court sometime this season with his new Portland Trail Blazers squad. —Victor Deng

Nike Caitlin 1

Release Date: October 1, 2026
Price: $140

There’s no questioning the energy around the Nike Caitlin 1. Nike women’s basketball is winning right now. I feel like we haven’t gotten to know Caitlin Clark as much off the court, and her shoe opens up her story. From her repeated 22 and CC, to the upper representing her shooting range, there’s plenty to unpack. The colorways on this shoe feel unstoppable; similar to the Nike Ja 3, it just finds new life with each release. Also, it was a really cool easter egg to have the inverted colors tease new colorways. The design is great, but the technology puts it over the top. Between the new Opticast upper, forefoot Air Zoom Turbo, and multidirectional herringbone traction, Nike pushed itself. Caitlin’s popularity could’ve sold the shoe alone, so seeing Nike put this much into her debut makes it even better, and why it tanks as the best signature basketball sneaker of 2026. —Douglas Jase
