Steve-O credits an extensive period of celibacy spurred by his time in a sex addiction treatment program with giving him the “most fucking productive year ever.”
In a new interview with Playboy’s Jesse Will, the Wild Ride! podcast host, soon to be seen in what’s expected to be the final Jackass film, recalled his prior struggles with sex addiction and detailed what helped him not only move past such struggles, but also rebuild the sustainability of his career from the ground up.
It’s standard in the immediate aftermath of these programs, Steve-O explained, for one to embark on a period of celibacy lasting as long as three months. He decided to go much harder, however, opting instead to abstain from sexual activity for well over a year.
“I ended up going 431 days without blowing a load at all,” he said, as seen below and/or here. “The entire year of 2014, I did not ejaculate. … That was the most fucking productive year ever.”
For Steve-O, his struggles with sex addiction were preceded by a similar recovery path focused on substance abuse issues. The 52-year-old has spoken publicly about his sobriety on numerous occasions, including in connection with fellow Jackass alum Bam Margera’s own struggles with addiction. He’s also commiserated on his journey with several Wild Ride! guests over the years, including Josh Peck and Moby.
Jackass: Best and Last, as the title makes clear, is positioned as both the fifth, and final, installment for the film side of the beloved franchise that first launched as a surprise MTV hit back in 2000. As the follow-up to 2022’s Jackass Forever, Best and Last features original cast members alongside latter-day recruits like Rachel Wolfson and Jasper Dolphin. It hits theaters this Friday (June 26). As with previous Jackass titles, franchise co-creator Jeff Tremaine directs.
