Druski isn’t fucking around.
His ever-expanding comedic empire stands to grow to its furthest reaches yet thanks to a newly announced Netflix deal. Per reps for the streamer, the deal is a multiyear partnership, and we’ll get our first taste of what Druski is cooking up thanks to the imminent arrival of a new series focused on the comedian’s much-discussed megachurch pastor character.
Druski launching Netflix series in December
But that series, titled Collect & Praise and set for a Dec. 1 debut, is far from all that Druski and Netflix have on the books.
“I’ve built my platform by creating characters and comedy that resonate with people,” Druski said of the newly announced deal in a statement shared with Complex on Monday (Nov. 2). “This partnership with Netflix will give me the resources to build on that comedy foundation and bring my work to a new global audience. It’s a tremendous opportunity for our team at 4LIFERS Entertainment to expand our reach, develop original programming for the masses, and take our creativity to new heights.”
Druski and Netflix have entered into a multiyear partnership
As part of the deal, Netflix is also confirmed to be licensing “select content” from Druski’s plethora of hits, including Coulda Been Records audition videos and more.
Collect & Praise, specifically, sounds like it could be a candidate to fill the void left by last year’s conclusion of Danny McBride’s The Righteous Gemstones on HBO. That comedy also tackled the world of well-to-do televangelists, albeit through a distinctly McBride lens.
“Faith comes second to fortune as a money-hungry pastor and his unpredictable deacon scheme their way through scandal, chaos, and controversy,” reads the synopsis of Druski’s “semi-scripted” comedy series, which co-stars Mike Epps.
The news comes toward the tail end of what’s been a banner year for 32-year-old Druski, who will make history with his Saturday Night Live hosting gig this week.
