Key Takeaways

  • Joe Gorga and Harry Jowsey introduced Hulu’s The Mob, a reality competition featuring mob-movie-inspired challenges and an elected leader called the don.
  • Contestants will compete for $250,000 and a trip to Italy alongside reality stars including Bruno Tonioli, Chelsea Lazkani, William Belli, and Maria Georgas.
  • The Mob premieres Oct. 26 on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.

Joe Gorga is trading the family drama of The Real Housewives of New Jersey for a different kind of power struggle. The reality star and fellow reality TV mainstay Harry Jowsey introduced Hulu’s new competition series, The Mob, on Good Morning America on Oct. 19.

The show sends contestants into mob-movie-inspired challenges at an Italian villa, with up to $250,000 in cash prizes on the line. It premieres Monday, Oct. 26, on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.

For Gorga, the mob theme had a personal hook. “I grew up this way,” he told GMA, adding that “uncles, cousins” are somehow mafia-connected. (Those purported connections have not been independently verified.) He also said his Italian background made the premise feel familiar.

Jowsey, who grew up on a mango farm in Australia, had a different entry point. “I just saw a free trip to Italy and maybe 250k,” he said, explaining why he signed on despite knowing little about mob movies.

The two were also competing to take charge. Jowsey called Gorga “a stud” and “a little stallion,” while Gorga joked that Jowsey’s hair initially made him angry. The rivalry eased into friendship during filming: Gorga said, “I love this guy,” and told the hosts they had spoken over FaceTime the day before the interview.

Jowsey described himself as “a silly sausage,” while Gorga said his co-star could figure out the game’s strategy.

The game gives the contestants a chance to elect a leader, or don, with authority in each episode. The challenges borrow from gangster-film tropes, while the cast brings together personalities from across unscripted television.

Beyond Gorga and Jowsey, the lineup includes Dancing With the Stars alum Bruno Tonioli, Selling Sunset’s Chelsea Lazkani, Drag Race star Willam Belli, and Bachelor Nation’s Maria Georgas.

Gorga’s television history gives The Mob a familiar face with a long-running reality-TV résumé. He joined The Real Housewives of New Jersey in 2011 alongside his wife, Melissa Gorga, and his sister, Teresa Giudice.

The family relationships became a central storyline after Joe and Melissa skipped Giudice’s 2022 wedding; the two couples later appeared on Season 14 amid a public fallout.

Joe and Melissa have been married since 2004 and have three children.
