Russell Wilson and Ciara aren't slowing down in building their business empire. The power couple has officially joined wearable technology company QALO as co-owners and investors, adding another venture to a portfolio that already spans fashion, beauty, entertainment, and philanthropy.
The announcement, made in an Oct. 20 press release, puts the retired NFL quarterback and Grammy-winning singer in an ownership role as QALO makes a major push into the health-tech market. Wilson and Ciara will work alongside company executives to help shape its products, marketing, and future growth.
The deal’s financial terms have not been disclosed.
QALO first entered the market in 2013 with silicone wedding rings designed for people with active lifestyles. Now, after reportedly serving more than 2.2 million customers, the company is expanding into wearable health monitoring with its SR-2 Smart Ring and SL-1 Smart Band.
Both devices track sleep, physical activity, stress, and recovery without requiring a monthly subscription. Customers can also alternate between the ring and wristband while keeping their information connected through one platform. According to QALO, its wearable user base has jumped more than 400% over the past year.
For Wilson, the partnership comes just four months after he officially walked away from professional football following 14 seasons.
"Taking care and understanding your body is essential to performing your best, whether that's on the field and off the field as a parent and staying active for your kids," Wilson said in the company's announcement.
Ciara, who balances her music career with motherhood and several businesses, explained why the company's approach to wellness appealed to her.
"I know how easy it is to put your own health and wellness on the back burner when life gets busy," she said. "I'm excited to join the company as a co-owner and investor to help shape what's next, making it easier for everyone to prioritize their health."
The deal is the latest addition to the couple's expanding business interests. Ciara founded Beauty Marks Entertainment and OAM Skincare, while Wilson has ventured into children's apparel with 3BRAND.
Together, they've also launched Why Not You Productions and established the Why Not You Foundation.
In late September, the foundation donated $250,000 to The Salvation Army of Spokane to support Washington families recovering from devastating wildfires. The contribution funded immediate disaster assistance and longer-term financial support.
QALO CEO Jake Curreri said the couple's decision to invest reflects their confidence in the company's direction.
"Their decision to invest in QALO and become co-owners is a strong vote of confidence in what we've built," he said.
