A new documentary about the legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni challenges the actress’s account of what happened behind the scenes of It Ends With Us, with crew members disputing her allegations and filmmaker Andy Signore suggesting the controversy was an effort to damage Baldoni's reputation.

Signore's docuseries, It Ends With Justice, features interviews with people who worked on the 2024 film, including crew members who say they never witnessed the hostile working conditions Lively described in her lawsuit.

“None of them saw that toxic, combative thing,” Signore told NewsNation's Paula Froelich. “All the crew members were surprised when the lawsuit dropped.”

According to Signore, the production wasn't without disagreements, which is typical for any production. However, the employees he interviewed described those conflicts as differences in working styles rather than widespread misconduct.

“Most of the crew felt very positive about Justin, very positive about Justin and kind of neutral and different toward Blake,” he said.

Signore also claimed he struggled to find anyone willing to defend Lively on camera.

“I really, really tried,” he said. “It was hard to find people willing to go on record to defend her.”

Among those interviewed was the film's set medic, identified as John, who discussed his experiences working with the cast and crew.

The documentary also revisits one of Lively's more controversial allegations involving a childbirth scene. Actor Adam Mondschein, who portrayed a doctor in the sequence, reportedly disputes her characterization of the circumstances surrounding filming.

Signore questioned the suggestion that Lively lacked control over how the scene was handled, arguing that the actress had considerable influence over production decisions.

Another crew member, an editor named Jacqueline, discussed her work on the film's domestic violence sequences. According to Signore, she was brought aboard partly because of her personal experience as a domestic violence survivor.

Her edits were reportedly well received before Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, pushed for changes.

Signore alleged that Reynolds subsequently brought in an editor associated with his Wolverine projects to rework the sequences.

The filmmaker also questioned the motivation behind Lively's legal action.

“I think this was all a PR play for them,” Signore said, arguing that the alleged smear campaign against Lively was actually an attempt to rehabilitate her public image.

“No, this was always a smear campaign against Justin,” he claimed.

Lively has maintained that Baldoni and his associates retaliated against her after she raised concerns about misconduct during production.

The documentary arrives months after the two actors settled their bitter legal dispute in May, shortly before their scheduled trial.

Lively initially accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and retaliation in December 2024. Baldoni denied wrongdoing and filed a $400 million countersuit, which a federal judge later dismissed.

A federal judge also dismissed 10 of Lively's 13 claims before the parties reached their settlement.

Although the main lawsuit ended, the financial dispute continued. Lively sought more than $8 million in attorneys' fees connected to Baldoni's dismissed countersuit, but a judge awarded her approximately $407,000 in August.

Signore said he invited both legal teams to participate in his documentary. Baldoni's attorney, Bryan Freedman, agreed, while Lively's representatives did not participate.

For Signore, the central question remains why disagreements over a movie escalated into a legal and public relations battle.

“Honestly, it's still the question I have,” he said. “Why did she do this?”
