Kim Kardashian has a “lockdown” protocol in place to help protect her children from news about her and the artist formerly known as Kanye West.
As reported by People, Jonathan Van Meter’s new biography about the 46-year-old SKIMS founder, Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future, features an admission from her about making sure the children she shares with ex-husband Ye don’t find any harmful news about them. Kim co-parents her four children with Ye—7-year-old Psalm, 8-year-old Chicago, 10-year-old Saint, and 13-year-old North—and will enter a family-wide “lockdown” so they’re not privy to tabloid-style reporting.
“My whole household knows what a ‘lockdown’ means if I text it,” she shared. “Like, ‘We’re on lockdown.’ No TVs, just movies. No radio, just plug in a phone for music in the car. Not even, like, Sirius XM, because they talk about current events in real time. It’s like, they don’t have have to be a party to this.”
Elsewhere in the book, she also confessed that she frequently worries about her ex-husband, whom she filed for divorce from in 2021.
“Oh, I worry about [Kanye] all day,” Kim said. “All the time. That’s the father of my kids, I’ll never not worry about him. And that’s a big burden of having kids with someone who you don’t necessarily get along with. My kids would never know that. … I do everything in my power to forget about all the negative things that happened. I have to be realistic, and my therapist definitely tells me, ‘Your boundaries have to go up,’ but we manage to co-parent without too much conflict.”
Despite her concern, she said they “don’t talk that much,” but when they do see each other, they make sure to share a hug, and she’s still “really close” with his family.
