Cardi B didn’t let her time on the stage at Johns Hopkins University’s Hoptoberfest this weekend go by without tucking in some timely advice on what not to do as a student.

“Y’all better pass y’all motherfuckin’ semester,” the Am I the Drama? artist (and potential 2027 Grammys nominee) said during Sunday’s performance, before adding in a warning against taking the easy road. “And don’t ask ChatGPT for the answer.”

The show was a decidedly last-minute affair for Cardi, who stepped in for the post-Halloween event after Daniel Caesar was announced to “no longer be able to perform.”

Cardi has lamented the proliferation of generative nonsense before, including back in February of this year when she joked about wanting to “free my older family members from Facebook AI.”

A number of schools have moved to ban the use of ChatGPT, including those in the Boulder Valley School District in Colorado. OpenAI, the makers of ChatGPT, has also faced legal action for a variety of reasons. In October, for example, word broke that the parents of a software engineer with epilepsy had filed a suit in which they allege that ChatGPT gave their daughter medical advice that led to her death.
