Roc Nation secured a full dismissal of all lawsuits brought against them by Tony Buzbee's law firm.

According to court documents reviewed by Complex, Texas state Judge Kristen Hawkins ruled on Tuesday (June 16) that the court did not have jurisdiction over the Jay-Z-founded entertainment company in the claims brought forth by Gerardo Garcia, Jose Maldonado, and the Buzbee Law Firm.

The court dismissed all claims made against Roc Nation because the plaintiffs did not establish a basis for the Texas court to hear the cases.

Buzbee originally filed a suit in Texas in December 2024, naming Roc Nation, Jay-Z’s law firm Quinn Emanuel, and attorney Marcy Croft as plaintiffs.

According to Rolling Stone, Buzbee accused the three defendants of using “shadowy operatives” and promises of financial incentives to convince Buzbee’s former clients into filing “frivolous” lawsuits against him.

Roc Nation responded by calling the lawsuit “another sham” in a statement shared with the outlet.

Garcia, a former client of Buzbee’s law firm and a plaintiff in the suit, alleged that two aggressive investigators showed up to his Houston residence, claiming to be with “the state.” He claimed that the individuals offered him “money” to join a class-action lawsuit against Buzbee’s firm.

The lawsuits spawned from a now-amended civil suit alleging Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy”Combs sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl at a 2000 MTV Video Music Awards afterparty.

Jay-Z denied the allegations immediately, publicly calling them a "blackmail attempt. Jane Doe voluntarily dismissed the suit against Jay-Z with prejudice in February 2025. Roc Nation posted on social media afterward, writing, "Today is a victory. The frivolous, fictitious and appalling allegations have been dismissed.”

The judge ruled the state lacks personal jurisdiction over Roc Nation, but the claims could be refiled elsewhere.
