YG looks like he might want to set the record straight about the tragic death of Drakeo the Ruler.
On Friday (June 19), the Compton rapper released his new album, The Gentlemen's Club, and it features a track titled "We Know the Truth," which seemingly hears him rap about the speculation regarding his involvement in the 2021 stabbing death of Drakeo.
"They say I murdered this, they say I murdered that / Well, if that was true, you'd be a fuking rat / And I'd be in the cell sleeping on a rack / But too bad that ain't a fucking fact," YG raps on the track.
He continues: "I got paid six hundred for that show / So why would I tell a n***a to fuck it up, though? / And this a fact you should know / Slim just died, I wasn’t worried about bro / I came to get the dough, was finna hit the stage / Then I heard how y’all heard, somebody got hit with a blade / I heard n***as saying, 'YG paid' / Stop lying, n***a, come run YG fade."

Drakeo the Ruler was fatally stabbed during an altercation at the 2021 Once Upon a Time in LA festival, and some suggested that YG, who was also scheduled to perform at the festival but cancelled his performance after he learned about the situation, was somehow involved.
YG was never charged in connection with the killing, despite the rumors. According to LA Magazine, a private investigator who offered his services to the family of the late rapper reviewed footage of the incident and counted 113 people attacking a group of seven. Journalist Jeff Weiss, who covered the death of Drakeo extensively, also shared that a prominent L.A. rapper without gang affiliations told him that "the Bloods" wanted Drakeo dead.
Friends of Drakeo also told Weiss that a 17-car caravan, allegedly linked to YG and his entourage, pulled up to the venue just moments after the late rapper arrived for his performance. Drakeo's friend K7 also alleged on Instagram Live that YG "set the whole shit" because "he knew Drakeo was gonna take his spot." Drakeo's mother, Darrylene Corniel, told Rolling Stone that a large influx of people arrived backstage at the venue the same time as YG.
"They said there were, like, 40 to 60 people," she said. She later filed a $20 million lawsuit against Live Nation, Bobby Dee Presents, and C3 Presents for failing to stop the murder of her son, as reported by ABC News. The lawsuit is still pending.
YG's latest album, released through his 4Hunnid imprint via 10K Projects, features appearances from Pusha T, Tyler, The Creator, JID, Ab-Soul, Shoreline Mafia, and Buddy, among others.
