Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) president Terrence ‘Punch’ Henderson isn’t happy with Druski’s method of cutting off speeches that ran a little too long at the BET Awards.
At the start of the awards show on Sunday (June 28), Druski cautioned that anyone who delivers an acceptance speech longer than 30 seconds would be played off by a saxophonist. While it’s common practice for awards shows to play music to encourage people to wrap up their acceptance speeches, even if 30 seconds is particularly stringent, Punch wasn’t happy to see two of his label’s artists, SZA and Doechii, on the receiving end of the saxophone.
“This n***a Druski weird for that Sax stunt,” Punch wrote in a pair of since-deleted posts on X, formerly Twitter. “BET or whoever responsible. Weirdo behavior.”
For the opening of the 2026 BET Awards, Druski recreated his viral megachurch skit and outlined the rule on keeping acceptance speeches short and sweet. “No long speeches,” he told the audience, adding that there was a 30-second speech limit. “No struggle stories, rappers, we know your teachers told you ain’t gonna be shit, and I agree. You ain’t gonna be shit. Keep it pushing.”
SZA and Doechii accepted the BET Her Award for their collaborative track “Girl, Get Up,” but when their speech went on for longer than 30 seconds, the saxophonist at the side of the stage attempted to play them off. “I’m gonna keep my time!” Doechii told the audience. “I just wanna say, new music is coming soon, and to all the haters that have something to say about me, you better be ready for me to pop back out because I'm coming with a new single and it's finna kill everybody. Don’t ever play with me!”
