Jay-Z has reportedly picked himself as the headlining performer for the Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show next year.
As reported by Dave Brooks for Puck News, Hov will reportedly perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show on February 14, 2027, after weeks of hemming and hawing over who should get the honor. Jay-Z’s Roc Nation has produced the Super Bowl Halftime Shows ever since the NFL signed a deal with the company in 2019, giving the media mogul and rapper the final say on who performs. Other potential choices that were floated around this time have included Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber.
Complex has reached out to representatives from the NFL and Roc Nation for comment. This story may be updated.
The timing of Jay-Z potentially headlining the Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show couldn’t be more appropriate, considering he’s recently been celebrating the 30th anniversary of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt, and the 25th anniversary of The Blueprint. He’s also just coming off the back of multiple sold-out arena shows, including three sold-out shows at Yankee Stadium, for which he reportedly grossed over $42 million. He also marked the important anniversary milestones with a headlining set at the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia in May, and performed a sold-out show in Paris, France, last month.
Alongside his performances celebrating the anniversaries of two of his most-beloved albums, he’s also the subject of the HBO series Jay-Z in 8, which features his “99 Problems” collaborator Rick Rubin.
In recent years, Roc Nation has selected a wide variety of performers for the Super Bowl Halftime Shows. Earlier this year, for instance, Bad Bunny headlined the show, much to the chagrin of Fox News and MAGA types. Other recent performers include Usher, Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna, and The Weeknd, among others.
