Judge Orders Faith Evans to Pay $12.5 Million to the Trust of the Notorious B.I.G.’s Late Mother

The trust of Voletta Wallace only became a member of the LLC months after she passed away in 2025.

Faith Evans will need to hand over $12.5 million to the trust of the Notorious B.I.G.’s late mother, Voletta Wallace, according to court documents viewed by Complex.

As reported by AllHipHop, Faith Evans lost a court battle over money related to Biggie’s catalog proceeds that she allegedly withheld from the rapper’s late mother. Judge Kathaleen St. J. McCormick concluded that Evans owes $12,518,336 to the trust because of Voletta Wallace’s interest in Notorious B.I.G., LLC, which Evans manages. Evans had filed a motion to have the payout limited to $48,612, but Judge McCormick rejected it.

The trust of Voletta Wallace only became a member of the LLC months after she passed away in 2025, and as a result, failed to receive payouts during the period it wasn’t a member. “The short answers to the remaining questions are that the Trust did not become a member until December 12, 2025, when it executed the instrument required under the LLC Agreement, but the Trust is entitled to distributions made prior to that time in the amount of $12,518,336,” McCormick wrote in the ruling, filed on Tuesday (Oct. 27).

Voletta Wallace’s will left her estate to the Voletta Wallace Revocable Trust, and Biggie’s former manager, Wayne Barrow, filed a lawsuit against Evans on behalf of the rapper’s mother when Evans didn’t recognize the trust as part of Notorious B.I.G., LLC. Evans and Wallace founded the LLC in 2007, and agreed to give half of their respective halves to the rapper’s children, T’yanna Wallace and Christopher Jordan Wallace.

Evans had previously argued the sum shouldn’t be paid because her son with Biggie, Christopher Jordan Wallace, called into question Barrow’s position as the executor of Voletta Wallace’s estate. “In sum, the Trust became a member as of December 12, 2025, the date of the Written Consent,” McCormick concluded. “The Trust is entitled to distributions made as of the date of Ms. Wallace’s death. The Trust is entitled to prejudgment interest on those distributions, accruing as of the date on which the distribution was made. Prejudgment interest will be at the statutory rate, compounded quarterly.”

As reported by Bloomberg Law earlier this year, a judgment was reached in the lawsuit in August. Around the same time, Christopher Wallace filed documents alleging that his grandmother’s will was changed just 15 days before her death, cutting him out of the estate.
