Tupac's estate is teasing a new release for this coming Saturday (November 24). The late rapper's official Instagram account sent out a photo of the hip-hop titan with "1998" and a date over it on Monday.
The release is likely connected to Tupac's posthumously released Greatest Hits album. This Saturday marks the 20th anniversary of the drop. Tupac's estate is remaining mum about how they're commemorating the milestone, asking fans to sign up for alerts to be the notified when the new whatever-it-might-be drops.
"Sign up to be the first to know," they urged, before grabbing as much traffic as they can with multiple hashtags of different spellings of the legendary artist's name.
A new collection would make sense, as the estate recently recovered unreleased material in a settlement. Reports around the time of the court victory said that the family of Shakur won the rights to two or three albums worth of material as well as a six-figure settlement for unpaid royalties.
Tupac's death has been even-more-present than the constant background din it creates in hip-hop circles following Eminem joking that Diddy was involved in the shooting on his track "Killshot." The dig forced Jay Electronica, one of rap's foremost conspiracy theorists to go after Em on Twitter.
"How dare you accuse Diddy of killing Tupac while you completely look pass Jimmy Iovine and those who profited from his death the MOST,” Jay tweeted. “You best tread carefully son, before I come tear your ivory tower down like Sulaiman done the Templar Knights.”
The rapper's estate has been busy in other ways in recent months. They teamed up with Marvel Comics earlier this month to release a Black Panther crossover line of clothing.
