Lizzo is getting heartfelt thanks from Jason Lee after he revealed she once saved his life.
The 48-year-old media personality shared the story while interviewing the singer on the red carpet at the 2026 BET Awards on Sunday (June 28), recalling how she came to his aid after a night out went horribly wrong.
"Let me tell you why Lizzo is as much a good friend as she is an artist," Lee said in the video linked here. "Lizzo and I were at the club one day and I got overheated, and the doctor had to come and you never told nobody."
Lizzo immediately remembered the moment, replying, "Oh my god, that's right! You passed out in the club."
Lee continued, "Well, you were rubbing me [on my back]. I thought I was going to pass out and you saved my life."
"Yeah. And then you got the IV," Lizzo said.
"In the club!" Lee added.
"Got [it] in the club!" Lizzo laughed before breaking into song. "In the club! That's the new Usher song, ‘IV in the Club.’”

Lee has previously spoken about his past struggles with alcohol and the turning point that led him to quit drinking.
During a December 2024 appearance on The Breakfast Club, he recalled becoming so intoxicated at his annual birthday party that he remained drunk for three days. When he woke up the next morning, he said e found strangers inside his home while he still had a gun in his robe.
“I just thought, ‘If I would have woke up, went downstairs, and found these people in my house ... I would have shot all those people,’ you know what I mean?” Lee said. “One, I got people around me who weren't making sure I was good. Two, the Bible says warning comes before destruction—that was a warning sign because you had a lot of fun but that could have went south.”
He continued, “It just was a bad thing. I didn't want to go out like that. I do feel like people be crashing out and then there's these signs that come before they crash all the way out, and they just don't listen to them. So for me, I heard that sign and I just literally quit."
More recently, during a May 2026 appearance on Way Up with Angela Yee, Lee confirmed he had been sober for two years and eight months.
