Charlamagne tha God is debunking claims made by Kazeem “Kaz” Famuyide about their respective radio morning show’s ratings.
Famuyide, who is a co-host on Hot 97’s Mornings with Mero, made headlines following a heated rant last Wednesday (Oct. 14) about the legacy hip-hop radio station, calling it the “worst place” he’s ever worked and criticizing its executive leadership.
“Go check the ratings for the last three months,” Famuyide said near the 22-minute mark in the video linked here. “We've been beating The Breakfast Club, we’ve been beating Power 105 with maybe like an eighth of the resources that they have.”
Charlamagne responded to Famuyide’s ratings comment on Monday’s (Oct. 19) broadcast of The Breakfast Club.
“I want to say thank you to New York City because New York City has once again made Breakfast Club number one. 18 to 34, 18 to 49 and 25-54,” Charlamagne said in the clip linked above, referring to demographics where his morning show has thrived on the Nielsen ratings.
“Only reason I'm bringing that up is because—salute to my guy Kaz and salute to [The Kid] Mero. I'm sorry that y'all are going through whatever it is y'all going through over there, but they've never beat us. I just want to throw that out there,” he continued. “I don't know who told y'all y'all been beating us the last three months.”
Charlamagne said he doesn’t know where that information came from, but the host noted he spoke to Famuyide and Mornings with Mero executive producer Jayson Rodriguez about the matter.
While speaking about other outlets and clippers who ran with the narrative, Charlamagne said, “So, hey, all you motherfuckers that be doing your little YouTube videos and all that dumb shit: run with this, okay? Y'all don't ever want to run with real shit. I know nobody cares about the truth when the lie is more entertaining, but boy, y'all get really crazy with the lies.”
Famuyide joined Hot 97 as a co-host of Mornings with Mero in January 2026. The Kid Mero-led morning show succeeded Ebro in the Morning after the station parted ways with its longtime hosts Ebro Darden, Peter Rosenberg, and Laura Stylez in December 2025.
The Breakfast Club, the nationally-syndicated morning show which broadcasts from iHeartRadio’s Power 105.1 in New York City, first began in 2010 and is currently hosted by DJ Envy, Charlamagne tha God, and Jess Hilarious.
Power 105.1 beat Hot 97 in the ratings overall in September, 2026, with a 3.1 Average Quarter Hour Share (definition is here), as opposed to Hot 97’s 2.3.
