George Pickens popped up on the Cowboys’ injury report this week as he is dealing with a shoulder injury. Pickens was putting ice on his shoulder the past two games, and he was a limited participant in Dallas’ practice on Thursday.
Below, we will dish out an injury update on Pickens and look at whether or not he will play in Monday night’s game in Philadelphia against the rival Eagles.
George Pickens injury update: Will he play this week against Eagles?
Pickens appearing on the Cowboys injury report comes at an interesting time as Dallas head coach Brian Schottenheimer seemingly called him out at his press conference on Thursday.
“[Pickens] needs to understand that he impacts us in the running game as well,” Schottenheimer said. “He’s got to do the same thing in the run game - picking up safeties and blocking corners - just like [Javonte] Williams does picking up blitzes so he can catch balls. That’s part of the team-first mindset, and [Pickens] does understand that. When he’s going, they’re going to play soft inside. When he’s not going, the safety gets pretty good runs at our backs, and that’s going to improve.”
Pickens has been criticized before in his career for “going through the motions” on plays in which he’s not directly involved.
“GP is one of those guys where I don’t ever see him really affected in terms of the emotion,” Schottenheimer said. “Does he get the ball? Does he not get the ball? If these guys play a lot of snaps, I think part of it is us rotating those guys through.”
As far as Pickens’ availability to play in Monday night’s all-important game against the Eagles, ESPN’s Todd Archer expects the wide receiver to play.
“[I] don’t think this is something that will keep him out this week,” Archer posted on X Thursday.
If Pickens cannot go on Monday, it is almost certain that he would be able to play the following week at home against the Cardinals.
Here is a look at the Cowboys’ upcoming schedule.
- Week 7 Monday, October 26: Cowboys at Eagles
- Week 8 Sunday, November 1: Cardinals at Cowboys
- Week 9 Sunday, November 8: Cowboys at Colts
- Week 10 Sunday, November 15: 49ers at Cowboys
- Week 11 Sunday, November 22: Titans at Cowboys
- Week 12 Thursday, November 26: Eagles at Cowboys
The Cowboys have their bye in Week 14.
George Pickens fantasy football stock
Pickens had an ADP of No. 28 overall at FantasyPros this past summer. He was WR9.
Pickens has had a solid start to the 2026 season, as he has 33 catches for 428 yards. He has just 1 receiving touchdown, however.
Those are decent numbers, but they pale in comparison to the NFL’s elite. By comparison, Seattle’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba has 49 catches for 717 yards and 7 TDs so far this season.
The former Steeler had a career season in his first campaign with Dallas.. He had 93 catches for 1,429 yards and 9 TDs last season. All were career highs.
Cowboys odds
The Cowboys began the season with +1900 odds to win the Super Bowl. Sporting a 2-4 record, Dallas is currently +3500 at Fanatics Sportsbook to win it all.
Schottenheimer’s squad still has a very good chance to make the postseason as the NFC East is shaping up to be the worst division in football. The Cowboys are actually the favorites to win the division at the moment, as they have +110 odds.
Their win total is currently set at 8.5, with juice on the Under.
