The Jets had few bright spots last season, but one of them was running back Breece Hall, who rushed for over 1,000 yards in a season for the first time in his career. Hall is poised to be a focal point in New York’s offense this season with Frank Reich now calling the shots on that side of the ball.
The running back had a preseason setback this week, however, as he went down with a groin injury at practice.
Below, we will deliver a Hall injury update and look at potential return dates for Gang Green’s star rusher.

Breece Hall injury update: When will Jets RB be back?
The Jets were in panic mode Monday when Hall went to the ground untouched, grabbing at his upper right leg. The 25-year-old got up, winced, and then limped to the Jets’ training table on the sideline.
“My stomach dropped there a little bit, for sure,” said fellow Jets RB Braelon Allen about Hall’s injury. “From the sounds of it, it doesn’t seem too serious, so hopefully we can get him back as soon as possible.”
Indeed, Hall’s injury is far from major as he suffered a groin strain. It is believed that the groin strain is mild and Hall should return to the Jets in 2-3 weeks.
It is almost certain that Hall will not carry the football the rest of the pre-season as the Jets have a game tonight in Pittsburgh, and they will close their exhibition schedule against the Giants on Friday, August 28.
Hall had minimal work in the Jets’ preseason opener as he had 4 carries for 16 yards against the Buccaneers last week.
The RB is expected to be ready to play in Week 1 of the regular season when the Jets face the Titans in Tennessee.
Here is a look at the Jets’ schedule to open the season.
- Week 1 Sunday, September 13: Jets at Titans
- Week 2 Sunday, September 20: Packers at Jets
- Week 3 Sunday, September 27: Jets at Lions
- Week 4 Sunday, October 4: Jets at Bears
- Week 5 Sunday, October 11: Browns at Jets
