This Gap Ad Has Two Massive Problems

This sexist Gap ad also hilariously misspells the word "Einstein."

In 2016, you wouldn't think it'd be that hard for companies to stop insisting that men are the scholarly ones and women the social ones. But that's exactly how everyone is taking a recent Gap ad that has the internet outraged and accusing the retailer of sexism.

Just...no. @LetToysBeToys @EverydaySexism pic.twitter.com/qWZfYhy6Bg

For anyone who thinks that sexist marketing to children isn't a problem... Really @UKGap ? HT @PsychScientists pic.twitter.com/BnGCQhujwG

Shame on you @UKGap for this disgraceful #sexism that diminishes little girls #NotBuyingIt @PinkstinksUK https://t.co/qSOfuieHjR

No wonder girls don't choose #STEM careers after they've been subjected to this rubbish growing up. Seriously!!! https://t.co/kfJ0NcrGKB

Thinking @UKGap should swap social butterfly for literary badass for alternative aspirations for girls. Maybe I'll mock one up.

"Is this Gap children's advert sexist?" 1) yup 2) they've misspelled Einstein on the T-shirt https://t.co/kJ2RqWLz9Q pic.twitter.com/LqzrP5jAKS

Dodgy stereotyping aside, wonder which Gap genius felt ironic enough to spell Einstein wrong 😁 pic.twitter.com/ru9S48ry0i

Gap also provided Google with a new image for when people search for irony. The T-shirt worn by "The Little Scholar" couldn't even get the spelling of "Einstein" correct.

The spelling bothers me more.. It's spelt Einstein dumbasses

T shirts don't determine what a child will become https://t.co/yyg34JBuUh

The T-shirt in the ad spells the famous physicist's name as "Einstien," which, like the word "genius," is one of the most embarrassing for you, but hilarious for us, words to misspell. People seem to be taking as much issue with that as they are the ad's sexist undertones.

Surely worse that they've spelt Einstein wrong....*faceplalm* ⚡️ "Is this Gap children's advert sexist?"https://t.co/qPZwPkNpgj

So, @Gap doesn't know how to spell Einstein. Smarty pants, indeed. pic.twitter.com/djdJe2pR01

Maybe go back to the drawing board on this one, Gap.
