Four long and brutal years ago, Japanese label A Bathing Ape dropped a DisneySea capsule collection that featured a camo'd out Mickey Mouse. Now, that camo cartoon character has officially been reprised as BAPE announced Friday that it's finally teaming up with Disney again for a line of limited graphic tees.
BAPE's camo version of Mickey used to make frequent appearances as the brand and Disney collaborated on everything from apparelto plush toys.
The Mickey collection, showcasing the iconic Walt Disney mascot draped in BAPE, coincides with the opening of the brand's Disneytown location in Shanghai.
Back in April, BAPE damn near broke the internet with the unveiling of their Dragon Ball collab featuring Baby Milo enjoying some quality hangs with Kid Goku and company on the front of graphic tees, hoodies, tote bags, and more. The collaboration was a huge success because it tapped into consumers' nostalgia, and this Disney collaboration looks to accomplish the same thing.
For something completely different, BAPE also scared everyone away from enjoying oceanic activities with this month's Jaws collab, which is set for release via their web store and select retailers this Saturday, June 18.
The Mickey Mouse Collection, which marks an obvious improvement over Mickey's usual choice of attire, exclusively hits the following BAPE stores in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan June 18:
Sanlitun, Beijing
Galeries Lafayette, Beijing
Xin Tian Di, Shanghai
Civic Square, Shanghai
Guangzhou
Chengdu
Qingdao
