Earlier this month, Levi’sreleased the trailer for a documentary series titled The 501® Jean: Stories of an Original, which would celebrate the iconic denim company's past and tell the story of its place in American culture. The three-part documentary can now be streamed via the brand’s YouTube.
The opening episode takes it all the way back to 1873, when workers needed durable jeans that could withstand the tough conditions of manual labor. The second part goes on to tell the story of how denim went from being a purely functional garment to a sought-after symbol of style. Lastly, the final segment touches on how the 501 Jean became synomous with rebellion, even to the point of being banned in some schools for being too controversial.
