YMC will be collaborating with legendary designer Katharine Hamnett on a capsule collection of slogan tees and archived re-issues for Spring/Summer 2016.
As well as being famous for her designing prowess, Hamnett has also been acknowledged for her tireless campaigning for political, environmental and social issues. Her interests in these notable causes have played a heavy influence in her career and this couldn’t be any clearer than in the new YMC collaboration. Speaking on the upcoming release Hamnett said; “I’m really happy to be doing a collaboration with YMC, a great British Band, using bio-dynamic silk and organic cotton, made ethically and as environmentally as possible”.
The Katharine Vs YMC capsule is built around three unisex slogan t-shirts with the phrases; ‘Save the Future’, ‘Stop and Think’ and ‘You Must Create’. The t-shirts are made from sustainable, certified organic cotton and uses environmentally friendly ink which pays tribute to Hamnett’s original designs.
The capsule also includes detailed designs from her archive which have been purposefully reworked for YMC’s staple modern look. Using a classic colour set of navy, khaki and white—plus the addition of powder pink for the women’s collection’—the collaboration has been designed to fit all seasons.
