Riccardo Tisci is a lot of things: artistic director of legendary French fashion house Givenchy; close personal friend to Kim and Kanye; selfie-taker extraordinaire; lover of inspirational quotes. But one thing he is not: the inventor of the color black.

Tisci took the opportunity to clear the air in an interview with Time this week, in which he specified that, although he loves to use the color in the collections he designs, he can't take credit for bringing it to the attention of the world.

"It would make me happy when I would see journalists writing 'Riccardo Tisci black,'" he told the magazine. "I didn’t invent black color, but people related so much black to me, which is a very beautiful thing."

A quick Google search didn't seem to turn up any results for anyone using the term "Riccardo Tisci black," but we'll take him on his word that someone out there did, since he spent a good chunk of the interview setting the record straight on a number of other topics, as well. For example, he doesn't have a million followers on Instagram (he has a million and one), he's never seen an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians (presumably because he's living it), and "everybody knows that Brooke Shields is one of the most beautiful people in the world."

Looks like Riccardo can add expert fact-checker to his ever-expanding list of talents.
