It looks like Uber is offering a pretty legit marketing strategy to get users to ride in their cars today.

The transportation service has partnered with Timberland to give select riders some free goods and a free ride. By using the app in New York (59th Street and below, as well as Greenpoint and Williamsburg in Brooklyn), you could be outfitted with a new pair of Timberland boots and a backpack courtesy of your driver.

Uber will then take you for a 30-minute "urban adventure" around the city, which means you will be sitting in the back of an SUV while you look out the window. Of course, this makes the new gear kind of unnecessary, but who doesn't love free stuff?

Just follow the instructions below.
