Sometimes the simplest ideas turn out to be the most successful. Need proof? Then check out this new Kickstarter by Kentucker Audley, a movie buff who wanted to promote the importance of cinema through a plain dad hat.

As explained in the informational video below, Audley came up with the idea when he noticed that TV shows, video games, and virtual reality were becoming more important than movies. So he designed a navy hat with “movies” written across the front to remind people just how awesome they really are.

After he created the design, Audley contacted Customink.com, which agreed to produce the accessories if he was able to secure a minimum order of 12 hats at $25 a pop. So he launched a Kickstarter campaign with an initial goal of $308. And now, with 28 days left to go, the project has raised over $1,700.

You can learn more about the project in the video below. If you're a fan of movies and/or hats, you can get your very own design by contributing to the Kickstarter here
