A date night between Virginia Tech students Jessica Michelle Ewing and Samanata Shrestha that ended in murder got off to a bad start after the latter wore sweats. Ewing says she was initially hurt when she arrived at Shrestha's apartment all dressed up on the fateful night in 2014, People reports

No one could have predicted what followed, though, as Ewing attempted to drop her bitterness and make the most of the evening with Shrestha. All seemed fine, the two even had sex, until Ewing jokingly called Shrestha a "spoiled bitch." The comment sparked a fight and Ewing strangled Shrestha to death after she said she was only "experimenting" with her. "It hit me where I was most hurt," Ewing said.

Ewing has been sentenced to 45 years in prison after submitting an Alford plea, which means that instead of admitting guilt the defendant only concedes that the jury has ample evidence to convict her, of first-degree murder. At least this is a punishment, unlike Ewing's, that actually fits the crime.
