Y-3 and matchesfashion.com have come together to celebrate the artistry of the former's creative director, Yohji Yamamoto, with a tight limited-edition capsule collection.

The three-piece monochromatic collection includes a tote bag, T-shirt, and poncho centered around one of Yamamoto's ink drawings. The art is prominently printed on each item along with Y-3 branding. The drawings came out of the designer's desire to evoke movement in the upcoming collection. "We talked about sport and sports clothing while I was sketching the collection, and eventually I began painting myself in motion," he said.

Yamamoto plans to unveil his artwork at an event during Paris Fashion week, following which one of the pieces will be hung up at matchesfashion.com's private retail space in London.

The release of the capsule coincides with the unveiling of Y-3's Spring/Summer 2016 collection, which is also inspired by the designer's artwork, and will be unveiled in the brand's runway show this Sunday, June 28.  You can cop the collection at matchesfashion.com on July 1.
