Givenchy's Spring/Summer 2016 runway presentation is going to be way outside the norm. Not only is the legendary French fashion house showing at New York Fashion Week for the first time ever, a move intended to promote the label's flagship store opening in the city, the presentation will also be co-art directed by famed performance artist Marina Abramović, WWD reports.
Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci didn't reveal much about his collaboration with Abramović, only telling WWD, "It's going to be very interesting." Tisci did however talk about the tone of the show, which will take place on Sept. 11. "It's a delicate day for America, and so the show is going to be a celebration of family and love," he said.
The artist has previously been featured in Givenchy's ad campaigns, seen above, and the label also hosted the closing dinner after Abramović's retrospective, "The Artist Is Present," at the Museum of Modern Art. Tisci and Abramović have also appeared in a NSFW advert that depicts the designer kneeling at the artist's breasts.
Considering what the duo has cooked up before, we have no doubt that Tisci's will be able to keep his promise that the show will be interesting.
