On June 24, Japanese artist Takashi Murakami will open a solo exhibition of paintings, sculptures, and screenings of his live-action feature film Jellyfish Eyes in Ibiza, Spain.
Presented by Blum and Poe, the exhibition will fill the 3,000-square-foot gallery space at Art Projects Ibiza and will run through the summer, closing on Sept. 26. The show will feature recent works as well as some of Murakami's larger pieces, including the 10-meter-long 69 Arhats Beneath the Bodhi Tree (2013) painting and his four-foot-tall platinum leaf Fate (2013) sculpture.
Murakami's signature blend of traditional Japanese imagery with pop culture/manga influences will also be on display through the various pieces installed at the four locations where Jellyfish Eyes will be screened: Art Projects Ibiza, Lune Rouge Ibiza, Ibiza Gran Hotel, and HEART Ibiza.
