Having an insane amount of Instagram followers does wonders for your ego. But did you know it can also provide a pretty sweet income?

In a recent Harper's Bazaar article, reporter Kayleen Schaefer explored the rising trend of bloggers who make a living off their social media posts. The piece specifically focuses on Danielle Bernstein, a 22-year-old blogger who has amassed over 994,000 Instagram followers with her style and beauty content. Her impressive—and growing—fanbase has caught the attention of many companies, which have paid obscene amounts of money just to have their products featured on her account. How obscene, you ask? Well, according to Bernstein, she can rake in anywhere between $5,000 and $15,000 for one Instagram shot. Yeah, those are three zeroes in those figures.

Bernstein explained that the rate depends on the terms of the deal: Is it a one-time thing? Does the company want multiple shots over a specific amount of time? Does it want you to refrain from shooting competitors’ products? There’s a lot of negotiations and stipulations involved in this type of business, and for good reason too. According to industry estimates, companies pay over $1 billion a year for sponsored Instagram posts with the hopes of profiting off of bloggers’ popularity.

Thomas Rankin, the co-founder and CEO of Dash Husdon, an app that allows you to cop your favorite looks on Instagram, says the biggest factor in this business is the amount of followers one has. Generally, if you have hundreds of thousands of followers, you can bring in $500 to $5,000 a post, which is pretty damn good. But if you have 6 million-plus followers, it’s possible to bring in $20,000 to $100,000 for each post.

Again, this shit is blowing our minds. Not because we were unaware of its existence (celebrities have done this for years), but because of the amount of money involved in these deals is just crazy. Can you imagine bringing in a year’s worth of income for simply taking a picture of free merchandise?

Clearly, we’re all in the wrong business.
