Last year, KAWS unveiled a massive 23-foot-tall sculpture in Hong Kong at Harbour City titled CLEAN SLATE, which featured one of his COMPANION figures carrying two smaller figures it its arms. China-based fashion and lifestyle department store Lane Crawford recently announced that they are partnering with Shanghai Times Square and All Rights Reserved to bring the sculpture to mainland China as the second stop on the piece's world tour.
In addition to being KAWS' first monumental installation on mainland China, CLEAN SLATE will also be the first art exhibition at Piazza of Shanghai Times Square. As a part of the exhibition, Lane Crawford will release a limited-edition collection of CLEAN SLATE T-shirts, canvas cushions and tote bags, and a very special KAWS mini plush of his standard COMPANION figure, limited to 1,000 pieces worldwide.
CLEAN SLATE goes on view in Shanghai on May 15 and will be installed until the end of the month.
