The rumors from earlier this month have been confirmed, and Public School designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osbourne will be joining the DKNY design team as creative directors. Donna Karan International officially announced the appointment (effective immediately) today in a press release, which also names Hector Muelas (formerly of Apple Inc.) in the new position of Chief Image Officer.

Osbourne previously told WWD that he was not considering the role at the time of the rumors because he was focused on Public School, but the designers have since accepted the positions and say that they are excited to join the team. "We both grew up in NY and DKNY has always been a part of the landscape of this city in our formative years as designers and as New Yorkers," they said in a statement. "It is one of the brands that helped change the game for us and for American fashion. It evokes everything our city was always about – enery, disruption, new thinking, and transcending all boundaries."

Chow and Osbourne will continue to work on Public School after joining DKNY, and according to WWD, their first DKNY women's collection will be unveiled during New York Fashion Week this September.
