Carine Roitfeld Talks Wanting a Cameo in "Zoolander 2" and Kanye West's Acceptance Into the Fashion World

The former editor-in-chief of "Vogue Paris" talks about missing all the best moments of Paris Fashion Week.

In a recent interview with The Cut, former editor-in-chief of French Vogue and founder of CR Fashion Book Carine Roitfeld talked about the highlights of Paris Fashion Week, specifically the Zoolander moment at Valentino's fashion show and Kanye West's performance at Fondation Louis Vuitton, both of which she missed.

"I was not there! I was shooting," she said about Valentino show. "I saw the pictures and I thought it was hilarious, and amazing to be able to do that. It made everyone so happy. I love the film." Roitfeld also said that she would love to make a cameo in Zoolander 2 if they asked her to. With the rumors floating around about models being considered for roles, we would not be surprised if Roitfeld and everyone in the industry were added to the script.

Roitfeld has worked with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian and they have built a real friendship over the years. Kim got a spread in CR Fashion Book when she was pregnant, and Roitfield gave North West her first editorial when she was 13 months old. In an interview with GQ, Kanye said "Carine Roitfeld is the Walt Disney of what Tumblr is today. She is the Kanye West of what Tumblr is today. She's the single most important person to what street style is today." Whenever Kanye is in Paris, the friends usually connect, but Roitfeld was unable to attend Ye's Fondation Louis Vuitton performance.

Roitfeld said "because of my corset, I was not able to go anywhere, but it’s amazing to see him and Mr. Arnault together talking about music and art, no? To see how finally the fashion world — what he dreamed of — he is a part of it." She added that when Kim Kardashian was pregnant with North, no one in the fashion world wanted anything to do with the couple at the time. "When we did the issue with Kim on the cover with Karl [Lagerfeld] and Riccardo [Tisci], no one wanted to lend clothes, no one invited her to the shows, she was really rejected by everyone. Maybe we were good luck because after us she did U.S. Vogue, all the other magazines...And Kanye’s a big talent, you know? In the last issue, Kanye curated a feature about art, he’s very cultured, he’s doing so many things, I don’t know how he does it all."
