Gap announces a former C. Wonder executive as its new head of design and, sadly, not Kanye West.

Gap parted ways with its creative director, Rebekka Bay, last month, leaving a position open that Kanye West said he wanted during his interview with Style.com. Today, Gap announced that former C. Wonder executive, Wendi Goldman, would take over as the company's new head of design, meaning we'll have to wait a little bit longer for distressed sweaters and tights to turn up at our local mall.

Goldman enters the company under the newly created title of executive vice president of product design and development, while Bay's former title, creative director, has been eliminated completely. Bay was seen as a more fashion-forward hire, having launched H&M's minimalist sister brand COS; Goldman is a more consumer-friendly designer who is best known for creating Victoria Secret's PINK line. In a statement from Gap's global president Jack Kirwan, Goldman is described as "a commercially-driven, customer focused leader."

We thought Kanye would have made one hell of a hire for Gap, but it looks like we'll have to put that dream aside for now.
