Last week, we got our first glimpse behind the walls at the amazing Stone Island archive at its headquarters in Ravarino, Italy. Now, in the second part of Highsnobiety’s video series, CEO Carlo Rivetti hones in on some of the more innovative fabrics and design specifics in the brand’s extensive portfolio.

“They’re like an old friend,” says Rivetti as he roams through the facility which houses wares from Stone Island’s long history. And indeed, like running into an old friend, Rivetti is full of joy coming across pieces from the past he has fond memories of, sharing insights about each piece. One such piece is a windbreaker from 2006; Rivetti explains that the shrinkage of the garment is 50 percent, meaning that the original garment was double the size, before the dyeing processes that Stone Island is known for brought the piece down to regular size.

Even he seems amazed by the breadth of goods, often commenting, “Mamma mia,” the Italian expression that denotes surprise or delight. “All my life is here,” Rivetti says while admiring his surroundings. “I’m a lucky man.”
