This past summer, Tokyo-based artist Megumi Igarashi was arrested in Japan when she was accused of breaking obscenity laws by creating and sharing 3D models of her vagina. The models were created as a part of Igarashi's crowdfunded project to create a vagina-shaped kayak. The 42-year-old artist was eventually released from custody, but according to new reports, see has been arrested again for the same offense after she was caught displaying "obscene figurines in a glass case so that people coming to the shop could see it."

The Independent reports that the owner of the sex toy shop where Igarashi's works were displayed was also arrested. Around the time of her first arrest, Igarashi said that she created the works to "make vaginas more acceptable" and that she would fight the charges. A petition to have her released was signed over 21,000 times online back in July, but if convicted this time around, Igarashi could face up to two years in prison.
