Staple and ICNY have just released a collaborative collection, the first for the two New-York based brands. The four-piece capsule presents pieces that feature graphics and branding from both, and will include a pullover hoodie, a twist on the classic Staple Pigeon tee, a knit cap, and a pair of ICNYâs signature half-calf 3M reflective socks.
The founders of the two brands, jeffstaple and Mike Cherman, actually met years ago when Cherman was trying to get a job at Staple. In an attempt to stand out from the sea of standard resumes, he went to extreme lengths to get jeffstapleâs attention: he took to pasting signs all over New York Cityâs Lower East Side, an act that eventually got him arrested and detained for two nights.
The pullover hoodie features a graphic mash-up of the two logos and a reflective pattern on the sleeves, while the T-shirt features a 3M version of the classic Staple Pigeon logo and a special Staple x ICNYÂ patch. Both the reflective knit cap and performance socks come in a color that represents the Staple Pigeonâs feet. The socks also display a repeating plus sign design that is a twist on ICNYâs more well-known dot design, paying homage to jeffstapleâs "positive social contagion," the motto that has been at the heart of the Staple brand since day one.
