After unforeseen circumstances that halted the arrival of "The Church of Vezzoli" earlier this year (read more in our interview here), Italian artist Francesco Vezzoli will present a new body of work at MoMA PS1 this month in an exhibition titled "Teatro Romano."

The exhibition opens next week on Oct. 26 and will run through March 8. The MoMA PS1 exhibition page explains that the "Teatro Romano" will feature five ancient Roman busts that Vezzoli has painted with the help of archeologists, polychrome specialists, and conservators "in the manner in which they would originally have been decorated."

"My new obsession is the past," says Vezzoli in an interview with T Magazine. "Having been immersed for so long in the search of the new, in the search of the hotness, now I feel the kind of stimulation and excitement and level of insight that I need and I crave, only history can give me." It will be interesting to see these pieces restored in a way that the world has not seen in over 2,000 years. Head to the MoMA PS1 page for more on the exhibition.
